Bat fecal matter on wall or ground

When you have a bat behind the shutter its usually the symptom of a greater problem.  Check the rest of the exterior of the house for bats and guano. A good way is to watch the top of the house at dusk to see if any bats are flying around.

The bats will use the shutters for two main reasons.

First when the attic temperature is to hot for them to survive comfortably, they will fly out and roost behind the shutters. This helps them stay cool when its to hot in the attic or walls.

The second is to start the weaning process. this motivates the baby bats to go outside and start catching bugs to support their own life.

The guano falling from behind the shutter is the effect of these two symptoms. You should never attempt to remove the shutters because all bats have the potential of having rabies. Squirting the shutters with water might only piss a rabid off and you can never predict what a wild animal will do.

The proper way to remove these bats is to properly net the shutters and wait until all bats are out. Only then can the shutters be removed and repaired so the bats cannot access them.
